Strengthening child rights to prevent child laborers in Maharashtra’s cotton Farms

Supported by Save The Children, Year – 2009 - 12

This project has been implemented in Buldhana district in Maharashtra covering 114 villages. The project was implemented in the cotton fields where children were engaged in farms as child laborers.

The aim of the project was to disengage the children from farms and mainstream them in the schools. It also focused on strengthening the school education through SMC training. This project was supported by “Save The Children”.

Under this project following activities.

  • Child labor free Villages, 6471 child laborers helped to attend school.
  • 14336 Adolescent girls & boys were trained on life skills.
  • 9216 Children of age 3 to 6 years are enrolled in Anganwadi.
  • 11 SMCs were formed and 1793 members trained to strengthen the SMCs.
